Takeover: Drauna's Beach Bag

Monday, June 30, 2014

It didn't take long for us to learn that our new sales diva, Drauna, was down to take a trip or two (or three) to the beach. Trust us, the girl knows a thing or two about getting her feet wet. We asked her to list her beach bag essentials and got the low down from our beach maven on some sandy NY spots- level of difficulty included!

Drauna's Bag: The Frida tote (her personal go-to), but she loves IGWT Borely Bag and Joey Tote as beach bag options.

Whats in it?: Beach blanket- IGWT Blue Striped Tropez Throw; Reading materials- Catcher in the Rye and Trashy Mags (duh); Sustenance- IGWT Drinking Situation, shelled peanuts; Sun damage control- Jackal HatLa Roche-Posay SPF 60 Anthelios meilt-in sunscreen milk, La Roche-Posay Hydraphase UV intense Broad Spectrum SPF 20, Shades, and Sun-In; Things to do- dominos, cards, disposable camera, and portable speaker case.

Drauna's break-down of a few NYC beaches (Accessing the beach difficulty level: 1 being the easiest, 5 being the hardest):

Best Beach for People Watching:
Coney Island/Brighton Beach
"If you've never been to Coney Island, then you've never lived. The boardwalk is filled with colorful characters from all walks of life, doing all sorts of wild things, no occasion necessary; just living life. Most people might not consider Coney Island as a beachin' option, but it's one of my favs as it's easy to access with plenty to do. And yes; it's safe to swim in the water. I've done it, I do it, and I'm still kicking."

Difficulty level: 1

Best Beach to "See and Be Seen:"
Far Rockaway
"If you're less concerned about working on your tan but are dying to show off your new beach outfit, then this is the place for you. Lots of Brooklyn babes venture out to the Rockaways to show off their new Summer threads and watch the hotties attempt to surf. And if you get hungry, Rockaway Tacos is right around the corner offering up best fish taco around."

Difficulty level: 3

Best Beach for Group Hangs:
Jacob Riis/Fort Tilden
"If you want to feel like you've escaped the city life, Jacob Riis and Fort Tilden are a nice departure from the concrete jungle. A little trickier to access, but super chill, less crowded, and plenty of beach to spread out with your buds. I suggest packing some snacks and beverages, as getting food nearby is a bit of schlep."

Difficulty Level: 5
